Las Vegas Raiders position coach is giving a player praise that the fan base feels could lose a battle in training camp
The Las Vegas Raiders are having position battles throughout the offensive line, including at right guard. But Rick Dennison believes in Glaze.
The Las Vegas Raiders are in a much better position now than they were last year. The offensive line was maybe the worst-performing group on the team last season. On paper, it’s kind of the same with the addition of Tyler Linderbaum. But the coaching is drastically different.
With Rick Dennison now at the helm of that group, we can get a better feel for what this group can actually do. Now we can actually evaluate some of the players, like DJ Glaze. The former third-round pick has played a lot of football the last two seasons. And he’s a guy who’s been at the top of a lot of stats you don’t really want to be at. So far at training camp, he’s been doing pretty well.

“You know we keep pointing out things that DJ [Glaze] needs to work on, and he’s working hard every day. He’s got great length and uses it well,” offensive line coach Rick Dennison told reporters on Tuesday after practice.
Last season, Glaze led the league in blown blocks. The year before that, he was in the top ten in that stat. Now, he’s played some bad football at times; there’s no doubt about it. But every now and then we will see something from Glaze that shows he deserves to be a starter in this league.
It doesn’t help that the evaluation process has been difficult with him because he’s had other bad players around him, been on terrible teams, and last year had a bad offensive line coach. Well, at least from the stories we have heard and the reports, the coaching was terrible. The tape tells a similar story, too. Hopefully, when we are watching the tape a year from now, we see good things from Glaze.
