Robert Saleh updates injury trio after Titans practice involving ‘breakout’ receiver Elic Ayomanor
Tennessee Titans training camp practice Thursday had a few notable injury updates and Robert Saleh shared the latest on Ayomanor, John Franklin-Myers, and Dan Moore Jr.
The Tennessee Titans received a mix of positive and concerning injury news from Thursday’s training camp practice, with three notable updates touching both sides of the ball.
The good news arrived first. Starting left tackle Dan Moore returned to practice after exiting Tuesday’s session early with an unknown issue during the team period. Titans coach Robert Saleh had said after Tuesday’s practice that the staff was unsure of the specifics but hopeful the issue would prove relatively minor. That optimism turned out to be warranted. Moore was back in the starting rotation Thursday without any apparent limitations.
Ayomanor goes down with shoulder concern
The most notable development from the entire session came on the far end of the field, where wide receiver Elic Ayomanor went down with what appeared to be a left shoulder injury. Ayomanor, a 2025 draft pick who has been one of the standout performers in camp so far, was competing for a ball in the end zone with fellow rookie Kevin Winston Jr. when he fell hard and stayed on the ground momentarily.
He eventually got up, worked with trainers, and walked the sideline grabbing at the shoulder and rolling it out before heading inside for additional testing near the end of practice. He did not return.
Saleh said at the podium that Ayomanor’s shoulder seemed stable but that the team was still evaluating. The expectation is that the Titans will have more information, potentially by the stadium scrimmage scheduled for Friday evening.
Losing Ayomanor for any stretch would be a real blow. He has been earning attention throughout the early portion of camp, and this is exactly the type of setback Tennessee cannot afford at a position group still looking for contributors to emerge behind the established starters.
Franklin-Myers exits with back stiffness
Defensive end John Franklin-Myers also stepped out of practice at one point and did not return. Saleh attributed the absence to minor back stiffness and indicated the coaching staff was not overly concerned, suggesting the decision was largely precautionary. The Titans plan to continue monitoring Franklin-Myers and updating his status accordingly.
Franklin-Myers is an important starter along the defensive line, but the tone from the podium suggested this was more about smart workload management than any significant worry. That said, back issues can linger, and it will be worth tracking whether he participates in the scrimmage.
The bottom line is that Moore’s return is encouraging, but the Ayomanor situation bears watching closely. If his shoulder checks out clean, the Titans dodged a bullet on a young player who has been making a strong early impression. If not, it creates a hole in a receiver room that was counting on him to keep building momentum heading into the preseason.
