Raiders’ Maxx Crosby just shut down whatever takes and rumors are still being disseminated about him
The Las Vegas Raiders are not going to trade Maxx Crosby, and he’s certainly not requesting a trade.
The Las Vegas Raiders and Maxx Crosby have been at the center of trade speculation for what feels like an eternity. Every offseason, rumors swirl about the All-Pro defensive end landing elsewhere, and this year those rumors nearly became reality.
After a requested trade to the Baltimore Ravens fell apart following a failed physical, Crosby is back in Las Vegas and making it clear he has no intention of leaving.
Crosby is one of the best defensive players in the NFL. He plays with a relentless motor, going all out on every single snap. Until recent injury issues, he had never missed a game in his career. That kind of durability paired with elite production is why teams around the league covet him. But the Raiders have maintained that Crosby is staying put, and Crosby himself is now echoing that message.
How the Baltimore trade fell apart
The drama this offseason reached a peak when the Raiders originally agreed to trade Crosby to the Ravens after he requested a move. You could understand his frustration. Over the last several years, Las Vegas has cycled through head coaches, defensive coordinators, offensive coordinators, and quarterbacks at a dizzying rate. When you factor in the last decade, the Raiders have been among the worst teams in football. Crosby’s talent has been going to waste on a team that hasn’t been pushing for playoff contention.
So he requested a trade, keeping it quiet to avoid upsetting the fan base. Baltimore appeared to be the destination. But when Crosby arrived for his physical, the Ravens determined that a knee injury he dealt with wasn’t in good enough shape for their liking. They felt there was long-term damage inside the knee that made the deal too risky. Baltimore rescinded the trade, and Crosby returned to Las Vegas.
Crosby buys in after Raiders’ offseason moves
Since the trade collapsed, the Raiders have made moves that changed Crosby’s outlook. Las Vegas hired head coach Klint Kubiak and brought in several free-agent additions that signaled a commitment to improving. Crosby took notice.
When NFL Network visited Henderson, Nevada, for Raiders training camp, Crosby got on camera and left no room for interpretation. “I’m a Raider to the core, and I want to win more than anything,” Crosby said on NFL Network.
If there’s anybody in the league who embodies what it means to be a Raider, it’s Crosby. He reminds fans of the old-school Raiders mentality, the kind of player who evokes comparisons to the franchise’s greatest names. His passion and intensity are traits you simply cannot manufacture.
Will the rumors finally stop?
Crosby has made his stance very clear, and it feels like the trade speculation can die down. But this is the NFL. There’s always drama, and there are always rumors about somebody getting traded. That’s the nature of the business when you’re talking about one of the most coveted defenders in football.
Regardless, Crosby is a Raider. He’s made that known, the organization has made that known, and after an offseason full of uncertainty, both sides appear to be on the same page heading into the 2026 season.
