Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Dont’e Thornton could be in trouble in Las Vegas Raiders training camp.
This is an important summer former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Dont’e Thornton as he looks to earn a key role in his second season with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Thornton, who caught 10 passes for 135 yards as a rookie in 2025, was challenged earlier this offseason by new Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak.
Kubiak made it clear that Thornton is in a competition with fellow second-year wide receiver Jack Bech.
“We’re counting on them,” said Kubiak. “We’re counting on them to produce for us. The good thing is there’s competition with Bech and with DT (Thornton). There’s a lot of competition in that receiver room, and may the best man win.”
It’s still early in Raiders training camp, but the initial intel doesn’t sound positive for Thornton.
There’s already speculation that Thornton may not make the Raiders’ 53-man roster.
Another report noted that Thornton has had trouble creating separation against second-team and third-team defensive backs.
A lot can change over the next month, but Thornton was already coming into camp with a lot to prove.
And so far, he’s not taking advantage of his opportunities.
