Some recent hints suggest the Buffalo Bills may be cooking up a big-time addition behind the scenes
The Buffalo Bills hinted at a potential big-time addition on Friday.
Never say never.
That was the big takeaway from Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane’s media session on Friday when asked about a potential reunion with future Hall of Fame pass rusher Von Miller.
Miller, who played for the Bills from 2022 to 2024, hasn’t signed with a team this offseason, but the 37-year-old has sparked return rumors with social media activity in recent days – including a post claiming he can still roll out of bed and get eight sacks.
The former Super Bowl MVP played in 17 games for the Washington Commanders last season and totaled nine sacks and 26 total tackles. Miller can clearly still be productive in the NFL, even if it’s on a limited basis.
Is a reunion with the Bills in the mix?
Beane said nothing is imminent, but his comments certainly suggested he would be open to bringing Miller back if everything lines up down the road.
“I talk to Von all the time,” said Beane. “We’re buds. I love Von. You could name 10 other ex-Bills that, if everything lined up right, you wouldn’t say no to a guy like that. But beyond that, there’s nothing imminent.”
The timeline likely depends on where Buffalo’s roster stands near the end of training camp and how Miller is feeling as the season gets closer. He obviously doesn’t need to go through the rigors of training camp and preseason to prove he’s ready. Miller is a future Hall of Famer who doesn’t need to play in August to show he can produce in September or October.
It could also be a situation where the Bills don’t look to add Miller until later in the season. Keeping him fresh for important late-season games and a potential postseason run would make more sense than bringing him back just to risk an injury in September or October.
That approach would allow Buffalo to keep its options open and add a proven pass rusher when the games matter most.
