Vols 5-star commit David Gabriel Georges issues statement on controversy surrounding him
2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges issued a statement on Saturday morning that should shut down recent controversy.
College football fans who watched 2027 five-star Tennessee Vols commit David Gabriel Georges go off for 250 total yards and three touchdowns on ESPN2 this past Thursday night all had the same question.
How is this guy ranked as the No. 2 running back in the 2027 recruiting class?
The question was meant as no disrespect to Kemon Spell, the Georgia commit who is ranked above Gabriel Georges.
It’s just that Gabriel Georges was that impressive.
David Gabriel Georges responds to the ranking “controversy”
Gabriel Georges took to Twitter/X.com on Saturday morning to address the ranking “controversy.”
And he made it clear that he doesn’t care where he’s ranked — he just wants to play football.
“Thanks for all the support,” tweeted Gabriel Georges. “It’s crazy but I’m sick of talking about rankings. Whether I’m ranked second or not who cares? Put me last, all I want to do is play football. It was a great game, but there’s no need to insult the opposing team, they have some of the best players l’ve ever played against.”
First off, what a pro response by a high school senior. Gabriel Georges’ maturity is off the charts.
Secondly, you’ve gotta love that mindset if you’re a Vols fan. Recruiting rankings are fun, but they don’t guarantee anything for any player once they step on the field. Whether you’re a five-star or a two-star, it’s gotta be earned on the field just the same.
Gabriel Georges clearly embraces that mentality, and it’s a big reason he is the player that he is.
