2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges, a Tennessee Vols commit, doesn’t have anything to prove as a senior at Baylor School this fall.

Gabriel Georges is an elite talent who has proven over and over that he’s deserving of the hype.

Which is why some folks are telling the five-star recruit that he should sit out his senior season at Baylor School to avoid injury.

Gabriel Georges, though, isn’t wired that way.

Sitting out isn’t on David Gabriel Georges’ mind “at all”

VolQuest’s Austin Price joined WNML’s Josh and Swain on Wednesday and said that sitting out this fall isn’t on Gabriel Georges’ mind at all.

“He’s a team guy,” said Price. “The whole notion where people wrote, ‘Oh, he should sit out,’ and all that stuff — that is not on his mind at all. He is the most team-oriented kid.

“He doesn’t care about individual accolades. In his mind, if he does what he’s supposed to do, it all falls in line. Individual accolades are going to come with the team success and his success. But if he gets two carries and the team wins, DGG is pretty happy, and I think that says a lot about the kid.”

I don’t think anyone who has followed Gabriel Georges closely over the last year is surprised by that. Everything that’s been written about him has pointed to him being a player who cares deeply about his teammates and the success of the team. And I think that’s really important. I think those are the kinds of players that are necessary to be a true championship contender.

And I think the Vols have quite a few of those players on their roster. Starting quarterback Faizon Brandon is one of those players. There were rumblings, in fact, that people told Brandon to sit out the rest of his senior season at Grimsley last year instead of coming back after suffering a hand injury early in the year. Brandon, however, insisted on returning for the state playoffs, and he led his team to a second straight state title.

Tennessee has some dogs on the roster and on the way in the 2027 recruiting class.
