Former Tennessee Vols star WR Jauan Jennings is facing uncertainty about his NFL future at the midway point of the season
Former Tennessee Volunteers wide receiver Jauan Jennings is in his first season with the Minnesota Vikings.
After spending the first six seasons of his NFL career with the San Francisco 49ers, former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jauan Jennings signed a one-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings last spring.
If it feels like you haven’t heard about Jennings much this season in Minnesota, it’s because, well, you haven’t.
Jennings has caught just four passes for 43 yards for the Vikings while appearing in five games.
It’s clear that Jennings isn’t a fit in Minnesota and he’s a strong trade candidate ahead of the November 10 deadline as a result.
“None of the top trade options around the league is a slam dunk to happen. … The safer bet might end up being Vikings wide receiver Jauan Jennings, who isn’t a primary option in that offense and is also a trade candidate,” reported ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler this week.
Several contenders are in need of a wide receiver, including the Kansas City Chiefs and the New England Patriots (Jennings’ physicality at the wide receiver position could be a good fit for a Mike Vrabel-coached team).
It’s the 49ers, however, who could make the most sense for Jennings. The 49ers, as always seems to be the case, are dealing with some injuries and a reunion with the former Vol seems like an easy answer.
For now, it’s unclear where Jennings will finish the season, but it feels unlikely that it’ll be in Minnesota.
