Alabama landed in the sleeper category, but also squarely in the “biggest fraud” category from one anonymous coach.

“It looks like they’re morphing into a Pac-12 team. I like Kalen DeBoer a lot, but I think there’s a softness to how they play. The way they got beat by Indiana last year was like, whoa.”

Look at the starting offensive line and the starting front seven. Both units have been completely turned over. Transfer portal additions, internal promotions like Jackson Lloyd, and returning pieces like Michael Carroll on the offensive line have given those groups an entirely different look. On the defensive side of the football, Alabama has revamped its entire defensive line and linebacker corps. Outside of a guy like Yhonzae Pierre, there aren’t a lot of familiar faces in terms of projected starters.
