The Alabama Crimson Tide have undergone some change up front this offseason, and nothing signals that more than who will be their starting left tackle. As it turns out, Jackson Lloyd is getting the recognition he deserves.
I have been beating the drum when it comes to Jackson Lloyd all spring and into fall camp, and Bruce Feldman just gave us more evidence as to why the Alabama Crimson Tide offensive tackle is going to be special. Lloyd checked in at No. 13 on Feldman’s 2026 Freaks List, and one look at his testing numbers tells you everything you need to know about the kind of athlete Alabama has protecting its quarterback’s blind side.

Those numbers alone are staggering for a teenager, but the raw data only tells part of the story. The best part about Lloyd is what you see when you watch the clips coming out of Alabama’s fall camp. The way he works with new offensive line coach Adrian Klemm shows a player whose fundamentals are catching up to his freakish physical tools in real time.
Why Lloyd could become the best left tackle in the country
The truth is, Lloyd’s combination of size, movement ability, and natural athleticism is rare at any level. At 6-foot-7 and 317 pounds with sub-20% body fat, he already has the build of a franchise left tackle. Layer in a 760-pound squat and a 33-inch vertical at that size, and you’re looking at an offensive lineman who can anchor against power rushers and mirror speed off the edge.
On top of that, the coaching he is about to receive from Klemm could be the missing piece. I believe that Lloyd’s development in terms of his fundamentals, paired with his God-given athleticism, has the potential to turn him into arguably the best offensive tackle in the entire nation this season. The Crimson Tide have not had a left tackle this gifted in a long time, which is saying a lot given the draft history of that position.
The bigger picture for Alabama and Lloyd’s future
I’m not only bullish on Alabama’s offensive line under Klemm. I’m bullish on what the Lloyd-Klemm partnership means for the program’s future on the recruiting trail. When five-star offensive linemen across the country see a 19-year-old developing into a potential top-5 pick in the NFL Draft under a new position coach, that sells itself.
Lloyd has the tools and the coaching around him to be a generational talent at the position. The question is not whether he’ll be a high draft pick — it’s how quickly he can put it all together and separate himself from the rest of the country.
