Tennessee fans just got a personal reason to root even harder for the Vols’ ground attack this year
Weigel’s just gave Vol fans an easy way to get some free stuff this year.
NIL has been a word that’s been lost in the fray that’s become college football’s multi-million dollar industry in the last several years. While NIL is supposed to be allowed for the use of a player’s name, imagine, and likeness in a commercial context, it’s begun to look more and more like pay to play regardless of categorization.
But every year, Weigel’s convenience stores remind us that there is, indeed, real and proper usage of name, image, and likeness for Tennessee athletes with their brand.
And for 2026, Tennessee fans will be rooting on the Vols’ ground game to cash in at their stores.
Weigel’s 2026 NIL giveaway includes Tennessee Vols’ running backs gaining at least 95 rushing yards
Weigel’s announced on Thursday, two days before the Vols’ season opener, that this year’s giveaway will involved the entire Tennessee running back room. If the running backs combined for 95 or more rushing yards in a game, then Weigel’s will give away to fans (who typically must be subscribed to Weigel’s rewards program) a free 28 ounce Powerade.
That’s honestly a pretty low bar for the Vols to scale this year. Bishop should be one of the top running backs in the conference, if not the country, after earning second-team All-SEC honors last year. The Vols’ offensive line should be a strength of the team as well. As a point of reference, Tennessee averaged over 173 yards rushing per game last year.
Tennessee will get their season underway on Saturday against Furman at 3:30 pm ET at Neyland Stadium
