Former Clemson WR Tee Higgins, who is teammates with Ja’Marr Chase, had some strong words about Lane Kiffin’s sideline antics in Week 1 at LSU
Former Clemson wide receiver Tee Higgins had some thoughts on Lane Kiffin and LSU this week.
Cincinnati Bengals wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins have been teammates for the last several years, but it wasn’t that long ago they were on opposite sidelines in one of the biggest college football games of the century.
In early 2020, Chase and LSU took down Higgins and Clemson in the national championship game to cap off LSU’s perfect 15-0 season.
Many fans and analysts believe the 2019 LSU team is the greatest college football team of all time, but that’s only the case because they were able to finish off their magical season with a win against a talented Clemson squad that included players like Higgins, quarterback Trevor Lawrence, and running back Travis Etienne.
Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins discuss LSU’s dominant win over Clemson
Higgins joined Chase on his new podcast this week, and unsurprisingly, LSU’s dominant season-opening win over Clemson from last weekend came up.
The story of the game was obviously LSU’s dominance, but one of the fun subplots was Lane Kiffin’s sideline antics.
At one point during the game, with the outcome already decided, Kiffin took a jump shot on the basketball goal that he has on LSU’s sideline (something he also did at Ole Miss).
Higgins, despite being a former Clemson standout, said he actually liked the jump shot from Kiffin, though he pointed out that Kiffin missed the shot.
“I like it,” said Higgins. “I’m a hooper. So when he did it, I’m like, ‘Alright, (that’s cool)’. But he missed it. I thought it was dope, though.”
“I feel like Lane Kiffin has always had that type of swag about him,” added Higgins. “… Ole Miss was a good fit, but LSU is more flashy.”
It’s nice to see that Higgins has an unbiased view of LSU. He doesn’t seem to have any ill will against Kiffin or the Tigers.
Or maybe he was just having a good time on his buddy’s podcast and didn’t want to be a buzzkill. Either way, it’s probably nice for LSU fans to hear a player from a rival school not trash the program with all that’s gone on lately.
