Ryan Fitzpatrick just made a wild Miami Dolphins prediction that his own experience should tell him is totally wrong
The quarterback of the last Miami Dolphins teardown isn’t sure the 2026 Miami Dolphins will win a game.
The win projections for the Miami Dolphins are pretty modest in 2026. It’s hard to blame anyone for it.
But every now and then, a take arises that proves that there is no floor to the expectations around this year’s team. This one is perhaps the most disappointing. Because the Miami Dolphins are actually undergoing a dramatic reset for the second time in the last 10 years — and now a key member of the last reset who is dropping a scorching hot “winless season” take.

“If the Dolphins lose to the Raiders in Vegas on Sunday, I think they’re gonna go 0-17,” said Fitzpatrick on Fitz & Whit.
Come on, Fitz! The former quarterback endured something much more extreme than this back in 2019 — and that was with a way worse roster than the one the Dolphins are running out there in 2026. Fitzpatrick helped lead the Dolphins to five wins back in 2019. That included wins over a 7-win Colts team, a 7-win Jets team, a 9-win Eagles team, and a 12-win Patriots team that knocked New England out of the No. 1 seed in the AFC.
You mean to tell me that whole experience, in which the Dolphins lost their first three games by a combined score of 133-16, left no mark on Fitzpatrick and the ability of a young team to progress throughout a season? While throwing to Preston Williams, DeVante Parker, Mike Gesicki, and Allen Hurns? And Fitzpatrick himself led that team in rushing with 243 yards?
I have a hard time believing that. Fitzpatrick swam through the muck with the Dolphins back in 2019. And yet they won five games.
There’s only been two seasons since the schedule expanded to 16+ games in which a team has gone winless. The 2008 Detroit Lions and the 2017 Cleveland Browns. So yes, the 2026 Dolphins will endure a slog of their own thanks to their limited payroll this season. And all of the young players that will be playing. But winless without a Week 1 win? I don’t believe it! Fitzpatrick shouldn’t either, based on his own learned experiences in Miami.
