Titans cast-offs Jarvis Brownlee Jr, T’Vondre Sweat get the last laugh against their former team on social media after big Jets Week 1 win
The Titans sent Brownlee and Sweat packing. They both came back to where they were drafted in Week 1 and helped their team embarrass their old team. Adding insult to injury:
Adding insult to injury after the Tennessee Titans’ embarrassing Week 1 loss to the New York Jets, two players the franchise sent packing over the last calendar year got their lick back and had something to say about it.
Cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr. and defensive lineman ‘Vondre Sweat both took to social media to make it clear they had this game circled for a long time, and they were thrilled about the result.

Last season, earlier than anybody expected, Brownlee was shipped off in a trade to the Jets for a late Day 3 pick. The young cornerback was not jiving with the Mike Borgonzi regime, a front office that did not select him. The messaging internally was that he did not match their team from a culture fit standpoint. My two cents on it: they were just tired of him on a professional level.
That is something Brownlee, naturally, took pretty personally! He has had this game circled since the Titans’ schedule came out and it was revealed that the Jets were playing Tennessee in Week 1. He tweeted about how the Titans were going to feel everything he had. Shortly after the game, he posted on X that “they wrote me off, but I ain’t right back”.
For what it’s worth, Brownlee spelled the word “write” as “right” in the original post. He tried to correct it about six hours later and corrected it incorrectly.
Maybe not the sharpest guy in the world from a writing standpoint, but he showed up on the field when it mattered.
Brownlee was an element of the game early before going down and having to walk off the field gingerly with the help of trainers. He was carted into the locker room, but then he was suddenly back on the field, apparently having sustained an injury that was not serious enough to keep him sidelined. He finished the game and got his revenge on his former team.
T’Vondre Sweat piles on after one-for-one trade
Brownlee was one of two former Titans in this situation. Sweat was the other.
He was traded for edge rusher Jermaine Johnson during the NFL Scouting Combine this spring in a one-for-one deal, and the young former second-round pick took to social media to express his excitement after the game.
Sweat posted on X that they didn’t want me, now I’m hot, they all on me, big dubs!”
Both Sweat and Brownlee served as two of the captains for the Jets at the coin toss when they returned to Nissan Stadium.
They got the last laugh on the Titans and Borgonzi, even though Sweat graded out as one of the two lowest-graded PFF players for the Jets in that game. He was still part of a defensive front that ate up the Titans’ offensive situation for too much of the afternoon. Sweat gets to take pride in the win and the fact that New York beat Tennessee in the trenches.
It’s a tough scene for the Titans, one that just piles on after an already brutal loss. Unfortunately for Tennessee, there are more revenge spots coming up on the schedule. The Giants matchup in just a couple of weeks features a number of former Titans players and coaches on the other sideline.
Titans fans can only hope that result turns out a little bit different.
