‘Honestly, I blanked out’—One Los Angeles Chargers captain’s response to Jim Harbaugh’s message after 26-14 loss to Raiders raises eyebrows
The Los Angeles Chargers are in an 0-2 hole to start this season. And the message from head coach Jim Harbaugh doesn’t seem to have landed with all of his captains.
The Los Angeles Chargers are in a bad spot. The offense has been chaotic and clumsy. The defense sure feels like it is missing Jesse Minter. And the team is 0-2.
They’re not in deep trouble just yet. But they are in trouble. And, after the game, head coach Jim Harbaugh offered a message to his team. It seems that not all of his captains were dialed in on the message, though. Veteran edge rusher Khalil Mack, when asked about what his coach had to say after the loss, didn’t have a very inspirational response. ESPN’s Kris Rhim shared the eye-opening quote.

Alright. So…I certainly don’t think that Khalil Mack means anything malicious by what he’s saying here. Mostly that he was still reflecting on the game in the locker room after a stunning defeat. But this is still a hell of a quote. Not the kind that draws much in the way of inspiration that Harbaugh’s message is landing with all the leaders in the locker room. The Chargers have a lot of pieces to pick up. And they’re just getting into the beef of their schedule — so they’ll need to do it in a hurry.
