Tennessee is in need of a new 4th quarter song, and the answer is staring them right in the face
Tennessee need a new song to play before the fourth quarter of football games at Neyland Stadium.
It looks like Tennessee needs a new song to play before the fourth quarter at Neyland Stadium.
The Vols used Dolly Parton’s “My Tennessee Mountain Home” for the first couple of games of the season after the legendary singer passed away in August.
Tennessee, however, didn’t use the song last Saturday against Texas.
Using “My Tennessee Mountain Home” was a great way to honor Dolly, but it doesn’t quite land as a fourth quarter song for a football game.
So what should Tennessee go with? They’ve tried the Garth Brooks classic “Friends in Low Places,” but that kind of fizzled out. Tennessee has also used Morgan Wallen’s “The Way I Talk,” but there are mixed feelings on going back to it.
I think there’s a clear answer here.
It has to be Steve Earle’s “Copperhead Road.”
The song is set in East Tennessee (and it mentions Knoxville), plus it has the energy that a fourth quarter song needs.
Here’s a great example of what it could look and sound like at Neyland.
I mean, that’s electric. It’s absolutely the perfect option. It’s an easy song to sing along with, it’s relevant to Tennessee, and it has plenty of energy.
Don’t make this difficult, UT. The answer is “Copperhead Road,” and the people will love it.
