The 2026 Miami Dolphins just joined a miserable club populated entirely by familiar faces
The Miami Dolphins put another version of the team into an exclusive club of offensive futility with their Week 4 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
The best company is familiar company. With the exception, perhaps, of this group of Miami Dolphins teams from the last 25 years.
The Miami Dolphins are now 0-4, enduring a narrow 15-10 defeat at the hands of the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon. And, in the process, Miami’s put another season of the franchise into an exclusive club that no one wants to be in. And, conveniently enough, it’s a club that no one else is in…just a few versions of the Miami Dolphins. According to Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press, the 2026 Miami Dolphins are just the third team since 2004 to score 13 points or less in each of their first four games.
The 2026 Miami Dolphins just logged another entry in recent offensive futility to start a season
The 2026 edition of the Miami Dolphins can at least take some solace in the fact that three of the four teams they’ve lost to this season are the first-, third-, and seventh-ranked scoring defenses in the NFL. It is admittedly a tough draw. But there have also been some self-inflicted wounds that have fueled this lack of points.
On Sunday in Minneapolis, that came to the tune of a 68-yard touchdown strike along the sideline from Malik Willis to rookie wide receiver Chris Bell being waved off. The reason? Bell (barely…maybe? Probably?) stepped out of bounds: illegal touching. The week prior? Chris Bell shifted late and moved simultaneously with WR Malik Washington, who motioned into the slot and caught a touchdown from Willis in the red zone. Illegal shift. No points.
Either issue doesn’t happen and the 2026 Miami Dolphins don’t join their own club. But yet they did. And so here we are. Star running back De’Von Achane is out for the year. Miami can get some extra juice back in the passing game when rookie WR Caleb Douglas returns — but the most obvious path to a scoring breakthrough is clear. Stop shooting yourself in the foot with unforced errors.
