Oregon vs. UCLA Final Score Predictions: Unexpected top 25 Big Ten battle set to take place in Eugene
A to Z Sports staff predict the final score of No. 13 Oregon vs. No. 21 UCLA in Week 6 college football action.
Last time out, the Oregon Ducks looked impressive with a road win over USC. In that game a couple of weeks ago, Dante Moore suffered an ugly-looking concussion, and he’s going to be sidelined for the Week 6 game against UCLA.
UCLA is off to a 4-0 start, playing good football with Bob Chesney at the helm and Year 2 with Nico Iamaleava. The Bruins have Big Ten wins over Purdue and Maryland so far, and now have a big test against the Ducks.
Ahead of the top-25 battle on the West Coast, the college football staff at A to Z Sports is taking a crack at predicting this game.
Oregon 37, UCLA 23
It’s cool to see UCLA taking a step forward, but they’re going to suffer their first loss of the season on Saturday. If Dylan Raiola gets the start for Oregon, it’ll be interesting to see how he does with the Bruins getting to prepare for him, unlike USC did. UCLA is very good at running the rock, and that bodes well in this game where they’ll want to keep the football away from Oregon’s offense.
Still, I think Oregon is going to be able to create consistent explosives on their way to covering the spread. Oregon should give Moore this game off regardless of whether or not he is cleared. It’s a game they can win with Raiola and there’s simply no need to rush Moore back. — Brandon Little, A to Z Sports Ohio State
Oregon 34, UCLA 20
Oregon gets a strong performance from Dylan Raiola in his first career start. After showing plenty of life while replacing the injured Dante Moore last week, Raiola carries that momentum into this matchup, making enough big-time throws to keep the Ducks’ offense moving and giving Oregon another dimension through the air.
Nico Iamaleava delivers a few highlight-reel plays for UCLA and keeps the Bruins competitive, but two costly turnovers ultimately swing the game. Oregon’s defense takes advantage of those mistakes, while the Ducks pull away in the second half to secure a 34-20 victory. — Ryan Roberts, A to Z Notre Dame
Oregon 31, UCLA 28
The Ducks haven’t been able to fully get on the same page offensively. It turns out that Will Stein was a bigger factor in the success of that unit than we originally thought. Dante Moore has struggled, and a lot of those struggles come from poor spacing with their route concepts.
Meanwhile, Nico Iamaleava is finally living up to his five-start status. He and head coach Bob Chesney are dealing. They are going to give the Ducks a run for their money, and as friendly as Chesney was for offering to check in on Moore after his concussion and offer everything UCLA could offer, this game won’t be, and it’s a war you’ll want to tune into. — Tyler Forness, A to Z Sports Florida
Oregon 40, UCLA 29
This is the second-best game of the day on Saturday, and could end up being the best depending on the weather situation in Tuscaloosa. Bob Chesney has revived the Bruins, and right now, there is an argument that they are the third-best team in the conference behind OSU and Indiana. But Saturday will be their first real test. The Ducks have looked much better since falling to Oklahoma State, and another loss this early in the season would all but kill Oregon’s chances at making the CFP.
Because of that, and with the home-field advantage, I struggle to see Dan Lanning and Dylan Raiola laying another Duck egg. The offense has kept pace, if not honestly been better, since Raiola took over, and that should continue on Saturday. — Rob Gregson, A to Z Sports Alabama
