Lane Kiffin reveals the bizarre thing that Bruce Pearl told him about being a head coach at Auburn
LSU head coach Lane Kiffin was nearly hired by Auburn a few years ago when he was still the head coach at Ole Miss.
Near the end of the 2022 college football season, Lane Kiffin seriously considered leaving Ole Miss for Auburn.
Kiffin, who is in his first season as the head coach at LSU, eventually decided to stay at Ole Miss.
But for a few days, it looked like Auburn was on the verge of hiring the controversial head coach.
With LSU set to play Auburn on the road this weekend, Kiffin was asked if he thinks Jordan-Hare Stadium is haunted.
It’s a fair question considering some of the wild outcomes we’ve seen happen in Jordan-Hare.
Kiffin said that he doesn’t think the stadium is haunted, but he noted that former Auburn basketball coach Bruce Pearl told him back in 2022 that if he was the coach there, he’d get some wins he probably didn’t deserve because of the weird things that tend to happen in Jordan-Hare.
“I don’t think it’s haunted, but some magical stuff happens in there,” said Kiffin. “When Auburn was trying to hire me, Bruce Pearl tried to tell me that. He was like, ‘Hey, you’ll get a win every year that you really don’t deserve because magical things just happen here. It’s haunted.’ That’s where I got that from.”
(Kiffin knows Pearl from their time together at Tennessee in 2009.)
I don’t know if Jordan-Hare is haunted or not, but there are certainly some strange things that happen there. LSU will need to be on guard this weekend for any wackiness that could occur at any time.
