2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges put on a show in Knoxville this past Friday night.

The Tennessee commit and Baylor School standout rushed for 247 yards and three touchdowns on just 12 carries in a 21-7 win over Knoxville Catholic.

It was a glimpse of what’s to come at the next level from the five-star recruit.

What’s even more amazing, though, is Gabriel Georges’ response to his big game.

The Quebec native is arguably the best high school football player in the nation. Everyone who follows high school recruiting knows about him, and he puts on a show every time he touches the field.

But despite the success, he’s still incredibly humble, which was evidenced by his answer when asked after the win over Knoxville Catholic if it sometimes feels “easy” at the high school level.

Gabriel Georges quickly gave credit to his offensive line.

“My o-line made it easy,” said Gabriel Georges. “I had a lot of big gaps and, yeah, they make it easy.”

I don’t want to take anything away from Baylor School’s offensive line, but that big night happened because Gabriel Georges is a freak athlete with unreal instincts in the open field.

I mean, Gabriel Georges is probably the only high school player in the country who scores on that play.

But back to the comments after the game.

We’ve seen a lot of talented five-star recruits enter college football. Some flourish and some never reach their potential.

The separator, I think, is the mindset. Confidence and humility are a must. So is being a good teammate (it’s a team sport, after all — no one does it alone). Gabriel Georges has all three of those traits, which is why I think he’s as close to a sure thing as there is in recruiting right now.
