There are several huge college football games this weekend, but I’m not sure any game is bigger than the matchup in Baton Rouge between Alabama and LSU.

The winner of this game will continue to control its own destiny in the College Football Playoff race, while the loser will have three losses and need some help to get into the tournament.

Former Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops makes his prediction for Alabama vs LSU

Former Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops made his picks for this weekend’s biggest games, and he has LSU winning a tough one in Tiger Stadium.

“I’m going to go with LSU,” said Stoops. “They seem to have picked it up and are going — they just seem to have more momentum. And Alabama’s been struggling a little bit. Being that it’s at LSU — whether it’s at night or not — it’ll be wild.”

A lot has been made about the game not being at night (it’s a 2:30 PM CT kickoff), and that obviously favors Alabama.

It’s also worth pointing out that Alabama has only lost in Baton Rouge three times in the last 20 years (2006, 2010, and 2022). It’s one of the toughest places in sports to play, but Alabama hasn’t had too many issues in recent years in Death Valley.
