Florida vs. Oklahoma Final Score Predictions: Experts predict fascinating battle between two traditional powers with QB issues
The Florida Gators and Oklahoma Sooners meet for the first time in SEC play, and both teams have questions at quarterback.
The Florida Gators and Oklahoma Sooners are set to meet for just the third time in history on Saturday night, and it will be the first game in The Swamp.
In the history of both programs, they have met twice: 2008 BCS National Championship Game (Florida won 24- 14) and 2020 Cotton Bowl (Oklahoma won 55-20). This year, it will be a much different game than both before it, as both quarterback spots are in a tough spot.
The Gators have a quarterback controversy with Aaron Philo and Tramell Jones Jr., while Oklahoma has had numerous issues with John Mateer, leading to the dismissal of offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle.
Who will get the win and take one step forward? It’s primed to be a great game, and our experts predicted the game.
Florida 20, Oklahoma 9
It was disappointing to see the Gators fail to take advantage of their impressive defensive performance against the Georgia Bulldogs, but it was two consecutive plus performances for a unit that has been rough this season. Now you give that unit John Mateer with Jason Witten calling plays for the first time? This could be a disaster for the Sooners.

Florida 34, Oklahoma 13
Florida likely saw their playoff hopes extinguished last weekend against Georgia, but they’ve got a golden opportunity to get right on Saturday at home against Oklahoma.
The Sooners fired offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle after a blowout home loss to South Carolina, and there’s no reason to believe that things are going to improve on the road against a Gators defense that held Georgia relatively in check offensively last week.
Jadan Baugh and the Gators get things rolling early, and Oklahoma lacks the horses to keep this a game by mid-third quarter.
– Craig Smith, A to Z Miami
Florida 21, Oklahoma 10
This game is going to be a grind, with neither offense finding much consistency throughout the afternoon. Oklahoma’s defense will do its part to keep the Sooners in it, making life difficult for the Gators and keeping the score within one possession for much of the game. But John Mateer and the Oklahoma offense continue to look like a major problem. The Sooners struggle to sustain drives, miss opportunities and put too much pressure on their defense to carry the load.
Florida won’t exactly light up the scoreboard either, but the Gators will do enough to eventually pull away. Their defense should take advantage of Oklahoma’s offensive struggles, while the offense finds just enough success to put points on the board. The game stays uncomfortably close into the fourth quarter before Florida puts together a late scoring drive to finally seal it. It won’t be pretty, but the Gators will take it. Florida wins 21-10.

Florida 27, Oklahoma 20
This game features two teams on opposite ends of the preseason spectrum. Yes, the Gators have 3 losses heading into November, but they have some of the best wins in the conference after beating Ole Miss and Texas. The Gators look to be in good hands with Jon Sumrall for years to come, as he has exceeded all year-one expectations. For OU, things couldn’t have gone more wrong. John Mateer regressed, the offense has been horrific, and OC Ben Arbuckle was just let go this week.
Still, the defense and Brent Venables will create trouble for a Florida Gators offense that can look like one of the best in the country one week, and a mess the next. But catching the Sooners in the swamp will be a win for Florida. I expect Jadan Baugh and the defense to do enough to prevent the new OC bump for the Sooners.
– Rob Gregson, A to Z Alabama
Florida 23, Oklahoma 17
Florida is coming off a blowout loss to Georgia that’ll have them wanting to get right at home. Oklahoma making staff changes could result in some early juice from the Sooners’ offense, as we sometimes see with programs after a big change. However, I think the Gators are going to move to 6-3 and keep alive what has been a solid first season for Jon Sumrall in Gainesville. The QB situation is going to matter against a talented Oklahoma defense, but the Gators will figure it out.

Final Prediction for Florida vs. Oklahoma
To nobody’s surprise, our experts are in favor of the Gators here. The Sooners are in a really tough spot, and a trip to The Swamp with a first-time play caller isn’t likely to help any.
