‘This is a different flavor rusher than we’ve seen all year’—Miami Dolphins pass rusher Chop Robinson just received high praise from an unlikely source
Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell had some pretty strong words for Miami Dolphins edge rusher Chop Robinson’s game.
The Miami Dolphins will be seeking their second win of the 2026 season on Sunday when they host the Detroit Lions. That’s going to prove to be a tall task, as Miami will have to clash with one of the hottest teams in all of football.
If you were counting on the Dolphins to get overlooked by Detroit, you may be in for a bit of a disappointment. Lions head coach Dan Campbell did some film work for the Detroit Lions on YouTube ahead of the game. And his scouting report on one player in particular was eye-opening. Campbell is quite leery of Chop Robinson.
Lions head coach Dan Campbell offers a rave review of Miami Dolphins pass rusher Chop Robinson
“Here’s Chop. He’s really come on this year. I mean, really has elevated his game from where it’s been. His get-off has always been really good. But now his get-off and the speed to power immediately with leverage has really shown up. And he’s got a couple little moves off of this. But I mean, this is pretty strong, man. And this is a different flavor rusher than we’ve seen all year and really in a long time. So both for Blake (Miller) for sure and even Penei (Sewell), we’re used to a lot of these power rushes. This guy gets under you. So this will be good, we gotta make sure we pay attention to this guy.”

That’s quite the endorsement for the third-year pass rusher. Miami’s seen Robinson’s name spike up the list of several pass rush metrics over the course of the past month or so. And Robinson himself is coming off of a two-sack performance against the New England Patriots in Week 8. Campbell’s breakdown spotlights Robinson’s matchup against rookie tackle Blake Miller and Robinson; which can be one of the biggest matchups in Miami’s favor on Sunday.
But Miami will need to get to third downs for it to matter. How Miami navigates the Lions’ slew of offensive weapons on first and second down will ultimately help determine how many pass rush opportunity Robinson gets against the Lions. And it sure sounds like Campbell is hoping for as few as possible. That’s as good a nod of respect as you could possibly ask for.
