The futures of Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson are among the biggest storylines heading into the 2027 NFL offseason.

On the latest episode of 13 Personnel, Austin Stanley, Easton Freeze, and I took on a simple question. If you put Hurts and Jackson together, which outcome is most likely for the 2027 season?

There were three scenarios to rank. Only one of them is back with his current team, both are back, or both are gone.

Each of us landed in a slightly different spot. All three of us agreed on one thing, though.

Why both leaving is the least likely outcome

Both quarterbacks being gone in 2027 finished last for all three of us. That ranking is about how much has to happen, not about what anyone thinks of Hurts or Jackson as players.

For both to move on, two teams would have to come in and make aggressive moves. Philadelphia and Baltimore would also have to agree to part ways with players who have been the face of their franchises. So many pieces have to line up that it almost feels like a chain reaction.

Neither one is impossible on its own. Both happening in the same offseason is a much bigger ask.

The case for both quarterbacks staying put

Easton made the strongest case for both quarterbacks being back. His reasoning comes down to the simplest explanation usually being the correct one.

Easton pointed to how tenuous the quarterback situation is across the league. He also noted that the incoming college class doesn’t feel like solid footing for teams looking to replace a starter. If that class looked stronger, he said he might feel differently.

He also made a fair point about what Hurts and Jackson have meant to their teams. Over roughly the last six-plus years, both have established themselves as franchise quarterbacks.

Even if a front office feels deep down that it’s time to move on, walking away from that type of player is extremely difficult. Easton believes the writing is on the wall for both situations, but he isn’t sold on the timeline.

Why I think one quarterback is on the move

I ended up siding with Austin, who had one of the two being back as the most likely outcome. Both being back was second for me, and both being gone was third.

The 2027 quarterback class is the reason. Austin and I have talked about that group a ton, and it’s not developing into the class we thought it was going to be at the position. Easton sees that as a reason teams will hold on to what they have. I see it the other way.

If the draft can’t supply enough quarterbacks, demand shifts to the veteran market. I recently did a show going through the quarterback-needy teams, and the list is long. The New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals are on it. So are the Miami Dolphins, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, Minnesota Vikings, Indianapolis Colts, and maybe the Atlanta Falcons.

That doesn’t even include the Ravens or Eagles if either decides to make a move of its own.

That is a lot of demand. If you ask me, the 2027 class isn’t going to provide the supply that many expected. When that happens, teams start picking up the phone about proven starters, and Hurts and Jackson are two of the most proven starters who could realistically shake loose.

It can be a tricky slope. Trading a franchise quarterback is never simple, and the team on the receiving end would be paying a premium. Still, with this many teams searching and so few answers coming out of college, I do believe there will be a real push for the veteran quarterback market.

One of these two moving on feels like the most likely result. We will see how things play out once Philadelphia and Baltimore have to make their calls.
