The Kansas City Chiefs have announced their inactive players ahead of their Week 9 tilt with the New York Jets at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday.

Both teams ruled out a number of players heading into Week 9, which makes the inactive lists fairly predictable for both clubs. If we’re comparing starting lineups, the Chiefs are missing one player considered a starter (Mansoor Delane). This will mark the rookie’s third missed game this season with the shoulder injury. Meanwhile, the Jets are missing one offensive player (Garrett Wilson) and another on defense (Trevin Wallace).

Here’s a closer look at the inactive players for Kansas City and New York.

Kansas City Chiefs’ inactive players

  • QB Garrett Nussmeier (Emergency 3rd QB)
  • FB Ben VanSumeren
  • CB Mansoor Delane
  • DE Jack Pyburn
  • DT Peter Woods
  • OT Diego Pounds

New York Jets’ inactive players

  • WR Garrett Wilson
  • DE Joseph Ossai
  • CB Nahshon Wright
  • LB Trevin Wallace
  • OL Kohl Levao
  • OL Blake Freeland
  • WR Tim Patrick

Defensive tackle is a position to monitor for the Chiefs moving forward

With Woods out this week with a stinger, the Chiefs elevated practice squad DT Marcus Harris to the 53-man roster. He’s active on Sunday and will appear in his third game via standard elevation this season. Harris was one of the team’s preseason standouts and should realistically see some action in Week 9. What happens if he performs well in this game?

After three standard elevations in 2026, Harris is ineligible for another standard elevation until the postseason. If the team wants Harris to play another game, they’ll need to sign him to the 53-man roster for a minimum. Once they do, he’ll need to be on the roster for a three-week minimum before the team can release him.

The other part of the equation? The Chiefs have DT Omarr Norman-Lott, who remains on injured reserve, but is around two weeks into his 21-day practice window. Kansas City must decide whether to keep him on injured reserve or activate him to the 53-man roster by the end of next week. Norman-Lott has logged six consecutive limited practice sessions since he was designated to return to practice.
