Tennessee social media trolls Kentucky after 34-6 win about a campus controversy that popped up during the weekend
The Vols got the last laugh after defeating Kentucky on Saturday.
The Tennessee Vols got the far better end of their annual showdown with the Kentucky Wildcats, winning convincingly 34-6 on Saturday at Neyland Stadium.
That’s not a surprising result given the series history. Kentucky went between 1984 and 2011 without winning a game, and they’ve dropped 10 of the last 12 on the field coming into Saturday. It’s simply a series that Tennessee unequivocally owns.
But with Kentucky 7-1 overall and No. 6 in the initial College Football Playoff rankings, they came to Knoxville with more confidence and bravado than usual. That included their fans, who took to “the Rock” on campus at Tennessee and painted it blue with the words “Stein time”.

And then the game happened, and Tennessee flexed their muscles in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Wildcats 21-0 and turning what had been a close game for three quarters into a laugher.
The troll has layers to it. “Hard in the paint” references both a basketball phrase as well as obviously the painting of the rock blue on Saturday. And, of course, “not this time” speaks for itself.
Kentucky fans may try to pull off another similar type of troll when they come back to Knoxville in two years. After all, two years is plenty of time to build up a sense of confidence that a different result than what almost always happens will happen that time.
You know what they say about insanity. And until those results start to change between these programs, that’s all these types of antics will be.
