Tennessee made a statement on Saturday night by destroying Kentucky.

The Vols’ 34-6 win over the Wildcats gives Tennessee two dominant wins over top 10 teams in Neyland Stadium (including UT’s 26-10 win over Alabama).

Tennessee controls its own destiny. If they win out, they’ll be in the College Football Playoff.

Winning out, though, won’t be easy. The Vols have games remaining against Texas A&M (on the road), LSU, and Vanderbilt (on the road).

First up for Tennessee is Texas A&M next weekend at Kyle Field.

The Aggies are 4-5 this season. Their only SEC win came at home against Arkansas. This is a Texas A&M team that doesn’t have much to play for right now.

But that doesn’t mean the Vols should overlook them. Former Georgia star pass rusher David Pollack, in fact, thinks Texas A&M can be very dangerous because they have nothing to lose.

“Here’s the thing,” said Pollack. “This time of year, when you’ve got teams like Texas A&M who are super talented — they’re talented. They’re not good — don’t mishear me. But they’re like Oregon, too. They’re super talented and they have nothing to lose. They’re dangerous as shiznick. They become extremely dangerous, and they’re going to beat somebody down the stretch.”

Tennessee has to treat Texas A&M like they’re a team with a playoff bid on the line. The Vols can’t take anyone lightly. One bad half could wreck their playoff hopes.

The Vols are in a good spot entering the second week of November, but they haven’t clinched anything yet.
