Bills: Tremaine Edmunds and Jordan Poyer were not franchise tagged at the deadline
After months of waiting, we finally have an answer to one of the biggest questions surrounding the Buffalo Bills.
Tremaine Edmunds and Jordan Poyer's chances of staying as members of the Buffalo Bills don't look good. While it's not certain, the decision the team made today isn't promising.
The Buffalo Bills had until March 7th to make the decision to franchise tag either of the All-Pro players. The deadline came and went and no official announcement was made, meaning they will only return if a new deal is made.
It seemed like a long shot for either of the two to be franchised, but hopes were higher for an Edmunds announcement rather than Poyer.
Over the course of the last few weeks, Bills Mafia has heard much more from Poyer regarding his future than Tremaine Edmunds.
Regardless, there are even more difficult decisions that are going to take place. Poyer and Edmunds are All-Pro defenders on one of the best defenses in the NFL. It's nearly impossible to replicate what they bring to the field and the community
Luckily for Buffalo, a slew of talented players have become available who could be possible replacements for the duo.
A possible reason behind the team's inability to franchise either player could be the troubling cap situation the team finds itself in. Without any restructures taking place before the deadline, Buffalo had almost no money to work with.
What's even more frustrating from the eyes of Bills Mafia is the lack of any pertinent information surrounding the two. Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott are known for keeping things close to the vest. Plain and simple, nothing leaks from One Bills Drive.
The Bills Mafia will continue to keep a close eye on any potential development for these two premier players. If they were to leave, Buffalo would have a huge void that would immediately need to be addressed.
Things are about to get a whole lot more interesting.
