Miami Hurricanes star had a five-word message for Notre Dame’s Jeremiyah Love after playoff win over Texas A&M
One of Miami’s best players took a dig at Notre Dame’s departing superstar after dispatching of the Aggies.
The Miami Hurricanes have been one of the most talked about teams over the last several weeks, as they rose eight spots in the College Football Playoff rankings from early November until the final bracket was released back on Dec. 7. The Hurricanes were the last at large team in the field, leapfrogging and knocking the Notre Dame Fighting Irish out.
That supposed snub drew the ire of Notre Dame fans, players, and administration in the days following selection Sunday. It also begged questions from some fans and media about whether Notre Dame should have been in, whether that was over the two G5 teams in the field, or whether that was over Alabama and/or Miami.
As it turns out, both Alabama and Miami proved they belonged in the field with impressive road victories. Alabama opened up the playoff with a 34-24 win at Oklahoma on Friday night. On Saturday afternoon, the Hurricanes silenced the Texas A&M Aggies 10-3 in College Station.
After the game, Miami OT Francis Mauigoa had a five-word message for Irish RB Jeremiyah Love, who is now heading to the NFL.

“Hey Jeremiyah Love, you mad?” Mauigoa said on a social media video in the locker room after the game on Saturday.
The Hurricanes are the one team this year who could actually talk at Love. The star Irish ball carrier demolished almost every defense he faced this season on the way to an appearance in New York as a Heisman Trophy finalist. He finished with 1372 rushing yards (6.9 ypc) with 18 touchdowns and added 27 catches for 280 yards and 3 more scores.
However, Miami overwhelmed the Irish offensive line back on August 31 during the Canes’ 27-24 win over Notre Dame. Love found little room, finishing with just 33 yards on 10 carries.
And as far as Mauigoa and Love themselves, while both are projected as first round picks and perhaps top half of the first round picks, Mauigoa might be, along with Rueben Bain, Jr., among the very, very few players in football who could be drafted higher. A number of Irish fans have chirped back about Love’s impending pristine draft status, but Mauigoa could surpass him there as well.
Miami proved they belong in the playoff and further solidified that the selection committee made the right choice. And as they say, to the victor goes the spoils.
