Ohio State basketball has suffered another key departure from Jake Diebler’s coaching staff
It’s been an offseason of change for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Ohio State is now losing another member of Jake Diebler’s 2025-2026 coaching staff.
The Ohio State Buckeyes had what you can call a successful 2025-2026 season by getting back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in the Jake Diebler era. Following the season, the Buckeyes have had a ton of change from the transfer portal to the coaching staff.
Jake Diebler will need to replace Joel Justus as his top assistant coach who left for the Vanderbilt Commodores. Along with replacing starting point guard Bruce Thornton and center Christoph Tilly, the Buckeyes have a new staff member spot to fill.
Jake Diebler handed another offseason task for the Ohio State Buckeyes
According to The Columbus Dispatch’s Adam Jardy, Ohio State men’s basketball strength and conditioning coach Quadrian Banks is departing the team. Banks has been with the Buckeyes since the Chris Holtmann era began in 2017.
“My family and I just have an overwhelming appreciation for every student-athlete that has come through the doors over these past eight-plus years,” Banks told The Dispatch. “Extremely grateful for both the men’s basketball and spirit staff members supporting me over the years. Brutus, Men’s Hoops, and THE women of Ohio State Cheer will forever hold a place in my heart.”
Banks came to Ohio State with notable experience in the NFL. From 2013 to 2016, Banks was the assistant strength and conditioning coach with the Philadelphia Eagles. He then joined the Indianapolis Colts for a season. Banks has been at other places like Richmond, Gardner-Webb, Ole Miss, and Hampton.
Just another offseason decision Diebler will have to make on a key staffing spot on his staff.
