Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Jake Diebler watches during the first half of the NCAA men’s basketball game against the USC Trojans at the Schottenstein Center on Feb. 11, 2026. Ohio State won 89-82.

The Ohio State Buckeyes have had a busy transfer portal period the last couple of weeks, and now they’re on the board with their fourth portal addition.

Ohio State has needed a backup point guard to take over for Gabe Cupps in the rotation. It was the last position on the roster the Buckeyes needed to address. After being connected to former LSU G Jalen Reece, the Buckeyes watched him land at Texas A&M

A day later and Ohio State has its guy.

Buckeyes land transfer portal commitment No. 4

Former Memphis and LSU G Curtis Givens III announced his commitment to Ohio State on his Instagram on Thursday afternoon. Given joins California G Justin Pippen, Kentucky F Andrija Jelavic, and Duquesne G Jimmie Williams as the newest members of the Buckeyes men’s basketball team.

Givens started 15 of the 25 games he played in for Memphis and HC Anfernee Hardaway last season while averaging 9.4 points, 2.3 assists, and 2.1 rebounds in 25.6 minutes per game. The 6-foot-3 guard shot 36 percent from three-point range and 66 percent at the free-throw line.

As a freshman during the 2024-2025 season, Givens played in 32 games with 12 starts for LSU. The newest Buckeye averaged 4.8 points and 1.6 assists per season. 247 Sports has Givens rated as the No. 35 point guard in the transfer portal.

Givens was a four-star prospect and top 70 player out of high school at Monteverde Academy (FL). Ohio State did not offer Givens out of high school.

As long as John Mobley Jr. returns, the guard rotation will be him along with three transfers. Ohio State needs to take another step forward next season after getting back to the NCAA Tournament this year.
