One key detail from Ohio State football’s visit to see five-star RB David Gabriel Georges shows just how hard they’re pushing for him
Ohio State is pulling out all of the cards for five-star RB David Gabriel Georges. One detail from their visit to see him in Tennessee on Monday tells it all.
Monday was a big day for what the Ohio State football program hopes is the future. Ohio State coaches hit the road on Monday to visit recruits and the first stop was to see the No. 1 target on their board.
Ohio State was in Tennessee to start the week to see five-star RB David Gabriel Georges, their top want in the class of 2027. Running backs coach Carlos Locklyn was leading the charge, but a group of offensive coaches joined him.
Who Ohio State sent to see David Gabriel Georges tells the story
The majority of Ohio State’s offenube staff joined Locklyn in Tennessee. Tight ends coach Keenan Bailey, offensive line coach Tyler Bowen, and wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton were all there. But the most notable coach in Tennessee on Monday was offensive coordinator Arthur Smith.
The Ohio State offensive coordinator and former NFL head coach isn’t expected to be much of a recruiter in Columbus. Ohio State sending Smith on the road to see Gabriel-Georges shows just how bad they want the 6-foot, 215-pound running back from Baylor School.
Smith is new to the whole recruiting thing and hasn’t been at the college level since 2010 when he was a defensive intern with Ole Miss. Ohio State’s Brian Hartline replacement has NFL coaching experience and a past around the pros that many coaches at the college level just can’t offer. Ohio State getting him in front of recruits is a big deal.
Gabriel-Georges will take his official visit to Columbus at the end of the month. Then, he’ll take OVs to Ole Miss, Georgia, and Tennessee. The Buckeyes and Vols are expected to be at the top of the recruitment in the end and Ohio State is pushing hard to make it happen.
A decision from the star recruit won’t come until after the official visits wrap up. Ohio State is doing what it can to get some extra time with the potential future Buckeye ahead of time.
