It’s an important time of the year for the Ohio State football program. The Buckeyes wrapped up spring practice a couple of weeks ago and much of the focus has been on recruiting since then.

Ohio State’s coaching staff will be on the road again this week to see 2027 and 2028 recruits. The Buckeyes are going to start the week by seeing their biggest target of this recruiting cycle.

Monday is a big day for the Ohio State football future

Five-star Baylor School (TN) RB David Gabriel Georges is at the top of the board for what Ohio State wants in 2027. Ohio State running backs coach Carlos Locklyn’s first stop on Monday will be to visit Gabriel Georges. According to Lettermen Row, Locklyn will be joined by offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton, offensive line coach Tyler Bowen, and tight ends coach Keenan Bailey for the visit to see the talented running back.

Ohio State badly wants to add a premier running back recruit in the class of 2027 and Gabriel Georges would fit the bill. The No. 2 running back in the class of 2027 is expected to be a freshman contributor wherever he lands, and already looks the part at 6-foot, 205 pounds.

The Buckeyes are right at the top along with Tennessee in Gabriel-Georges’ recruitment. Other schools in the mix are Ole Miss and Georgia, but it’s the Buckeyes and Volunteers expected to be the serious front-runners. Ohio State has the benefit of having Locklyn as the primary recruiter after the running back from Tennessee.

Locklyn was the first coach to offer Gabriel Georges when he was at Oregon and the relationship has continued to grow since.

Gabriel Georges will make his official visit to Columbus at the end of March and a decision likely won’t come until July at the earliest. The five-star running back is expected to take his four officials first before a decision. Ohio State seeing Gabriel Georges a week after Tennessee did is good news.
