Ohio State football may have turned the tide for the better with a major recruiting target from the heart of the SEC

Ohio State hosted a recent visitor that looks to now be strongly considering the Buckeyes. It’ll be a battle against the Georgia Bulldogs for this one.

The Ohio State Buckeyes have completed a June full of official visits ahead of the dead period. Ohio State has picked up a couple of commitments and more could be on the way soon.

Ohio State has added to its secondary with four-star cornerbacks Deontay Malone and Jaden Carey. Defensive tackle has been a point of emphasis with players like Marcus Fakatou and Kasi Currie taking officials. Currie committed to Texas and the Buckeyes remain the favorite for five-star DT Fakatou.

The Buckeyes missing out on Currie has forced them to turn the pressure up on another defensive tackle, and he’d be a terrific addition for the team in Columbus.

Ohio State takes a major step with a four-star defensive tackle from SEC country

On the final big recruiting weekend in June, Ohio State hosted four-star Ramsay (AL) DT Karlos May. The Buckeyes are battling Georgia and Auburn for the 6-foot-3, 305-pound defensive lineman with the Bulldogs being a real competitor to land him.

May appears to have a strong visit to Columbus and the Buckeyes are near the top of the recruitment by giving him plenty to think about when it comes to his future. Ohio State’s coaching staff specifically stands out to the Alabama high school standout.

“Man, just knowing that Coach Patricia has been doing this for a long time and he’s developed one of some of the best guys to ever play,” May said recently via Lettermen Row. “That just meant a lot to me because if he can sit down and show me what his plan was, and I know that he can do it because he did it on all of those. So that just kind of stood out to me, just me having that belief and faith in him that he can do it.”

According to 247 Sports Composite rankings, May is the No. 130 player and No. 14 defensive tackle in 2027. May is a player with a lot of strength and power on the interior of the defensive line where he could be a real run plugger down the road.

A decision will come for May on June 18 and the official visit weekend in Columbus has the Buckeyes in shape. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Alabama product is commitment No. 16.
