The NFL Scouting Combine is upon us. The guys over at the A to Z Film Room YouTube channel discussed some quarterbacks, wide receivers, and running backs that have big opportunities to help themselves out heading towards the 2025 NFL Draft, and one of the wide receivers that was discussed is former Oregon standout Tez Johnson.

After a noteworthy week down in Mobile for the Senior Bowl, Johnson will aim to continue to build his case as a dangerous weapon at the next level.

"Tez Johnson, on the other hand, is a completely different conversation [than Tetairoa McMillan]. He weighed in at the Senior Bowl at 156 pounds. He is a historical outlier of size. There are just not many guys that have come through at that size profile and have been able to maintain a roster spot in the NFL," Ryan Roberts said. "So, if he is going to be able to do that, he needs to go out and run something nutty. Like he needs to go run high 4.2s, low 4.3s. He needs to be a guy that showcases that athleticism, or else people are going to start second guessing 'can a guy at 160 pounds, give or take a couple pounds, last who isn't an elite athlete?' He has a lot on the line from a testing perspective."

Roberts is right. Johnson is absolutely an outlier. He's in the same tier of wide receiver as Tank Dell, who Johnson has been in communication with throughout the training and pre-draft process. Johnson's path to success at the next level is as a dangerous slot receiver and/or return man, two things that he did remarkably well during his time at Oregon. What Johnson lacks in size, he makes up for with shifty, explosive suddenness and route running ability. The Combine will be a golden opportunity for him to show NFL front offices that he has the athletic traits to make them believe that he can overcome his smaller stature
