The tight end position is the unsung hero of the Oregon Ducks offense. They're crucial in their blocking, while serving as mismatches in the passing attack. Offensive Coordinator Will Stein loves drawing up plays to their athletic tight ends, namely to Terrance Ferguson.
In Oregon's route of Washington, which capped off the only undefeated season in college football on their way to the Big Ten Championship and eventually the College Football Playoffs, Ferguson cemented his place in Oregon history. With his touchdown catch early in the fourth quarter, Ferguson tied the Oregon tight end receiving touchdown record, after breaking the record for most career receptions by a tight end in Oregon history early in the game.
"[There were] records Saturday night for a couple guys, Terrance Ferguson, tying the touchdown record. He also has a ton of receptions, and I think he leads all the tight ends and receptions here at Oregon," head coach Dan Lanning said in a shout out to open his postgame media availability.
Ferguson is a big, athletic tight end that is going to be a big conversation in NFL Draft circles this offseason. He has good movement abilities and strong hands, and is fluid after the catch.
In his buildup for the 2025 NFL Draft, Ferguson is going to participate in the Reese's Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama. The week of practices, interviews, team meetings, and capped off with a competitive game, are an incredible opportunity for draft prospects to help their draft stock.
By all accounts, Ferguson is an incredibly likable and smart tight end that picks things up quickly. In the drills throughout the week of Senior Bowl practices, Ferguson's athleticism and hands have an opportunity to stand out to NFL scouts.
Ferguson is a big part of this Oregon offense, finishing the regular season with the third-most receptions on the team. As the Ducks turn their eyes to the Big Ten Championship and a run in the College Football Playoffs, he'll have an opportunity to continue to show up and help his team chase their ultimate goal of the program's first National Championship.
