The Texas A&M Aggies are on a historic streak in 2025. They are 8-0 for the first time since 1992, and just pulled off their first win over the LSU Tigers in Death Valley since 1994. The Aggies are on the verge of a College Football playoff berth, and are a few games away from locking in an appearance in the SEC Championship Game.

While the defense has been absolutely stellar for the Aggies, the biggest success story of the season has to be the offense, led by quarterback Marcel Reed and a pair of stellar wide receivers in KC Concepcion and Mario Craver. Time and time again, A&M’s offense has responded in key moments in every game, and the offense is well-coached and schemed up perfectly for the personnel on the roster.

Given his success with A&M and at previous stops, it’s time for the college football world to consider Aggies’ offensive coordinator Collin Klein as a hot name in the upcoming CFB coaching carousel when they want to hire the next leader of their program.

Collin Klein helping Texas A&M make history

At this point, it would be harder to find the accolades the 2025 Texas A&M Aggies aren’t breaking offensively. The 49 points they ripped off on LSU was the most points scored on the Tigers in program history, and helped give A&M their largest margin of victory in Baton Rouge since 1975.

The Aggies have scored 40 points in five games this season, the first time they have done so since 2018. Perhaps more amazingly, A&M has wracked up over 400 yards of offense in every SEC conference game they have played this season. A&M sits fourth in the SEC in total offense, and only Tennessee is averaging more points per game.

Collin Klein is calling the offense as well as any coach in the country, creating easy buttons for Reed in the passing game, while drawing up an impressive run game to feature their deep stable of backs, and the results are paying off in a big way. Every week, the Aggies seem to find a way to feature a new playmaker to catch their opponent off guard, and the scheme and playcalling built by Klein deserves a ton of credit for that.

Let’s not forget Klein has already done this before at Kansas State. In two seasons as the offensive coordinator for Kansas State, Klein dramatically shifted the Wildcats offense. Their total offense improved 83.8 yards per game over the two-year span, improving from 362.3 yards per game in 2021 to 446.1 yards per game in 2023. His offense in 2023 ranked eighth in third-down conversions (.494), tenth in scoring offense (37.8 ppg), 13th in rushing offense (198.7 ypg) and 23rd in total offense (446.1 ypg), while also surpassing the 400-plus yard total in seven games, including five games of 450-plus yards.

We’ve now seen elite results at numerous stops for Klein, including an impressive turnaround in a Big 12 that still featured Oklahoma and Texas and now in the SEC with the Aggies. While he might not be the most experienced candidate out there, his success speaks for itself now as a coach, and the rest of the college football world should take note.
