I know it's very easy to forget that the people underneath the helmets are real people just like you and me. There's this idea that because they make millions of dollars and play a game, that means they're exempt from any pain or hardship.

Detroit Lions safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson proves that's not the case in a recent Instagram post where he talks about how much he hates that he doesn't get to play because of the injury and how much he cares about the game and his team.

This is the first look we get at Gardner-Johnson's injury. You can see how red and swollen everything is. For Gardner-Johnson to finish the game and play through that is a real testament to how much he loves his craft. Now he has to miss doing what he loves for a little while.

It sucks. We all have something that we love to do and are passionate about. If we had to stop doing it even for a couple months, it would suck.

The good news on all of this is that the reports the Lions got back show that the injury was as clean as it could be and there's a good chance, that after surgery, Gardner-Johnson could be right back on the field this season.
