The Houston Texans are signing a defensive end that's familiar with GM Nick Caserio.

Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the team is expected to sign defensive end Chase Winovich. The 27-year-old defender will provide much-needed depth at one of the most important positions in the NFL.

Winovich was selected in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. At the time, Caserio was with the Patriots as Director of player personnel.

Now, the Texans GM reunites with the defender in a new team.

Winovich played in just eight games last season for the Browns. He recorded just 20 tackles and one sack. In his first two years in the league, the DE recorded 11 sacks.

Winovich joins a position group that only includes Jerry Hughes, Mario Addison, and Jonathan Greenard.

With Rasheem Green and Ogbonnia Okoronkwo set to hit free agency, Winovich is a solid option for the Texans' rotation at DE.

His presence fixes a clear problem of a lack of bodies at the position. There's no such thing as "too many defensive ends" in the NFL.

The Texans are likely to keep looking at the unit even after this news.
