The Tennessee Vols will travel to Columbia this upcoming weekend to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks.

And it could be another blowout win for the Vols.

Tennessee appears to be back on track after a dominating 66-24 win against the Missouri Tigers.

South Carolina, meanwhile, has lost two of its last three games, including a home loss to Missouri in late October.

Last year’s meeting saw Tennessee cruise to an easy 45-20 win. This year’s meeting could be just as bad or maybe even worse based on a comment from Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer on Sunday.

Beamer admitted that part of the reason for South Carolina’s 38-6 loss to the Florida Gators this past weekend was because UF used more tempo than the Gamecocks expected.

“They (Florida) used a little more tempo than we had maybe thought they would going into the game,” said Beamer during a teleconference with reporters on Sunday. “I mean, we were prepared for tempo, but they went a little more fast, hurry-up on us last night. We certainly know we’re going to see that this Saturday night as well. And [we] gotta do a better job of being able to get lined up and go play football and not be on our heels.”

That’s definitely not what you want to hear if you’re a South Carolina fan. And it’s absolutely what you want to hear if you’re a Vols fan.

If the Gamecocks struggled with Florida going with tempo at times, then they’re going to have a long night against Tennessee’s up-tempo offense — which is operating faster than it did a year ago when South Carolina and UT played.

The Vols obviously have to go out and execute on Saturday. If they don’t play at a high level, South Carolina is certainly talented enough to give Tennessee some issues.

But based on Beamer’s comments, it sounds like the Gamecocks could have a frustrating night in Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturday when they host the Vols.
