One of the Tennessee Vols‘ top 2023 commits is four-star tight end Ethan Davis, a Georgia native who committed to UT last December.

Davis, 6-foot-5/221 lbs, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 6 tight end in the nation and the No. 4 player in the state of Georgia. He’s also rated as the No. 89 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class.

The fact that Davis is committed to Tennessee isn’t stopping other programs from pursuing the elite tight end.

Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss, according to Rivals.com, has been the main SEC school trying to flip Davis from UT.

Davis, however, isn’t going anywhere. He’s solidly committed to the Vols and he says he’s not changing his mind.

“I really wanted to travel and go see other places,” said Davis to Rivals.com. “I took a minute to sit back and think about it myself and I realized Tennessee is home. I found what I want there. There’s no need for me to go explore other places.”

“I’ve let all the coaches know I’ve shut down my recruitment,” added Davis.

The talented recruit has a close relationship with five-star quarterback Nico Iamaleava, also a Vols commit. According to Davis, the two talk every day. And they’re both working hard to bring other talented players to Rocky Top.

“Tennessee has a shot this year, too, and then we’re coming in to build on what they have right now,” explained Davis. “I see no slowdown for Tennessee at all.”

The fact that Kiffin is trying to swipe a recruit from the Vols should be flattering to Tennessee. Kiffin wants what the Vols have. But unfortunately for him, he’s not making any progress in this battle. Davis is all Vol and can’t wait to get to Knoxville.
