Rivals national recruiting analyst Mike Farrell hasn’t been a popular name among Tennessee Vols fans in recent years.

Earlier this year, Farrell appeared to celebrate former Vols offensive lineman Trey Smith falling to the sixth round in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Smith has looked like a first-rounder this year. Proving that he was worthy of the hype that surrounded him as a high school recruit.

Farrell followed that up by predicting that Tennessee would go 4-8 in Josh Heupel’s first season. The Vols proved Farrell wrong by going 7-5.

The Rivals analyst is apparently trying to make amends with Vol fans. This week, Farrell surprisingly had some kind words for Tennessee football, even calling the Vols “dangerous”.

Here’s what Farrell had to say in his column on Tuesday:

Tennessee is dangerous — After losing what seemed like their entire roster to the portal, and bringing in a new coach in Josh Heupel late in the cycle, it looked like it was going to be a lost season for the Vols. But their offense really got cooking in the second half of the season, finishing eighth in the country in scoring.

Tennessee’s improvement in 2021 was so impressive that even Farrell — a notorious disparager of Vol football — can’t ignore it.
