Now that Mike Norvell has been fired, there’s a specific Florida State player that Tennessee needs to try to land as a transfer addition
The Tennessee Vols should be taking a look at Florida State’s roster for potential transfer additions.
Florida State fired head coach Mike Norvell on Sunday, which means the Seminoles’ roster is going to be fair game for any program looking for potential transfer additions.
And the Tennessee Vols would be wise to be one of the programs taking a close look at some of Florida State’s players
One player, specifically, that Tennessee should take a look at is EDGE Rylan Kennedy, a former three-star recruit who started his career at Texas A&M.
Kennedy, who will have one season of eligibility remaining after the 2026 season, is enjoying a breakout year with the Seminoles. The Texas native has totaled six sacks this season, including two sacks against Virginia and one sack against Miami.
Teams can never have enough pass rushing depth — especially in the SEC with the new nine game conference schedule.
Tennessee’s personnel staffers should be on the phone right now with Kennedy’s old high school coaches and teammates to get a good feel for who he is as a player and person to gauge whether he’d be a good fit for the Vols (I’m not going to endorse tampering, but we all know the deal).
The Volunteers will likely lose a couple of key players from along their defensive line this offseason. And they’ll need to replace some of those players via the transfer portal. It’s critical that Tennessee gets an early start on the process so they’re ready to go in December/January.
I don’t know if Kennedy is the right fit for the Vols, but he’s a player that Tennessee should at least be looking into right now.
