The Tennessee Vols and the Texas Longhorns are set to meet in a huge SEC showdown in Neyland Stadium next Saturday at noon.
One of the Texas Longhorns’ most important players is reportedly in a walking boot.
Texas beat UTSA 30-6 on Saturday night in Austin.
At some point during the game, Longhorns star EDGE Colin Simmons suffered an injury and left the game.
According to Inside Texas, Simmons was spotted in the second half in street clothes with a walking boot on his right foot.
Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian said after the game that he doesn’t think Simmons is dealing with a serious injury and that removing him from the game was “more precautionary” than anything.
Simmons, a former five-star recruit, is one of the top pass rushers in college football (he had 21 sacks across his freshman sophomore seasons and he has two sacks so far this season). He’s obviously a player that Tennessee will need to game plan for.
It sounds like Texas expects Simmons to be fine for the Tennessee game next Saturday, but foot injuries can be tricky. This will be something for Vols fans to monitor this week ahead of a huge SEC matchup in Neyland Stadium between Texas and Tennessee next weekend.
