The writing is officially on the wall for former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jalin Hyatt after latest NFL news
Former Tennessee Volunteers wide receiver Jalin Hyatt has had a challenging start to his NFL career. The former Vols has barely been involved in the New York Giants’ offense the last two seasons.
Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jalin Hyatt could soon be getting a much-needed fresh start in the NFL.
Hyatt, a third round selection by the New York Giants in the 2023 NFL Draft, has barely been involved in the Giants’ offense over the last two seasons.
The former Vol has caught just 13 passes for 97 yards since the beginning of the 2024 season.
Hyatt showed promise as a rookie in 2023 when he caught 23 passes for 373 yards, but he’s been an afterthought in New York since.
The New York Giants signed three wide receivers on June 1
It’s been speculated this offseason that New York will eventually release Hyatt before the start of the 2026 season.
And the moves that went down on Monday only serve to reinforce that belief.
The Giants signed three wide receivers on Monday — Odell Beckham Jr, Juju Smith-Schuster, and Braxton Berrios.
Berrios, specifically, is a player that offers a similar skill set to Hyatt (speedy and primarily works out of the slot).
The Giants have a new head coach in John Harbaugh, so it’s possible that Hyatt will get a chance to earn a role in the new offense.
But I still think the best thing for Hyatt would be a fresh start. Giants fans have already moved on from Hyatt, so he’s never going to get a fair shot from them. Getting a fresh start with a new organization and a new fan base could help Hyatt finally reach his true potential in the NFL.
The Giants aren’t going to keep all of those wide receivers. It stands to reason that Hyatt is one of the top options to be released. And that’s a good thing for the former Vol.
