A former Tennessee Vols commit who decommitted because UT wanted him to shut down his recruitment has now left the SEC program that he ended up signing with.

Three-star offensive lineman Brandon Anderson was committed to Tennessee for three months during the 2026 recruiting cycle before decommitting.

Anderson still considered the Vols after decommitting — he visited Tennessee early last summer — but he eventually landed with the Missouri Tigers.

On Wednesday, news broke that Anderson, who went through spring practice with the Tigers, is no longer with the Missouri football program.

Anderson told 247Sports in early 2025 that he decommitted because Tennessee wanted him to shut down his recruitment after his official visit (this isn’t something that we’ve typically seen from the Vols, but that’s what Anderson claims).

“So this is the reason I opened my recruitment back up,” said Anderson after decommitting from Tennessee (via Noles 247). “I felt like I should have more opportunities. They (Tennessee) wanted me to shut down my recruitment after my OV with them. I didn’t like that. I have more interest in other schools too. So I had to decommit and experience my high school time.”

It looks like missing out on Anderson wasn’t a loss for the Volunteers.
