2026 might be the last “normal” year that Marshall Manning, the son of Tennessee Vols legend Peyton Manning, ever has in his life.

Marshall’s life has obviously been anything but normal since he’s the son of one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, but things are going to kick up a notch in 2027.

Baylor School head coach Erik Kimrey confirms Marshall Manning’s role for the 2026 season

Marshall, a 2030 quarterback, will be a freshman at Baylor School in Chattanooga this fall.

Baylor School head coach Erik Kimrey confirmed this week that Marshall will be the backup quarterback to Keegan Croucher, a 2027 four-star recruit who is committed to Ole Miss.

“Marshall Manning is our backup quarterback this year,” said Kimrey. “He’ll be a freshman. So we’re excited about him.”

We already knew that Croucher was set to start for Baylor School in 2026, but this is the first time that Marshall’s role has been publicly confirmed.

And since Croucher will be heading to Oxford after the 2026 season, it presumably means that Marshall will be the starter at Baylor School in 2027.

I’m sure Marshall will see some action this fall, but once he steps into the starting role, his recruitment is going to kick into overdrive.

It’ll be interesting to see how Peyton handles Marshall’s recruitment — I would expect that they’ll try to keep it as lowkey as possible for as long as possible — but the Marshall hype train is going to leave the station in 2027 regardless of whether or not the Mannings want it to.
