There were rumblings that the New York Giants were looking to trade former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jalin Hyatt before Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline.

Hyatt, a third-round selection by the Giants in the 2023 NFL Draft, has fallen out of favor in New York over the last two seasons.

The former Vol has caught just three passes for 17 yards this season. Hyatt caught only eight passes for 62 yards last season (he caught 23 passes for 373 yards as a rookie in 2023).

Despite the “rumblings,” Hyatt wasn’t traded before the deadline this week.

According to The New York Post, the Giants couldn’t find any “serious takers” for Hyatt.

The Giants had Hyatt returning kickoffs last week against the San Francisco 49ers in an effort to increase the former Tennessee wide receiver’s trade value.

“Hyatt has 11 catches for 79 yards in 22 games over the past two seasons and has been passed on the depth chart by multiple receivers elevated from the practice squad,” wrote the New York Post’s Ryan Dunleavy. “He began returning kickoffs last week to see if that could add to his value…a low-risk, high-reward buy could’ve been attractive to a team that once upon a time had high draft grades on (Evan) Neal or Hyatt.”

Hyatt said after the Giants’ loss to the 49ers this past weekend that he wants to remain in New York.

The South Carolina native, however, could clearly use a fresh start with a franchise that will actually give him an opportunity on Sundays.
