One of the recruiting storylines that Tennessee Vols fans are following this summer is the status of 2026 four-star tight end commit Carson Sneed.

Sneed, 6-foot-6/240 lbs from Nashville, TN, has been committed to Tennessee since last August, but he's been on flip watch for the last few months due in part to concerns about how tight ends are used in the Vols' offense.

The Florida Gators are viewed as the biggest threat to flip Sneed from Tennessee.

Sneed told On3 at the Rivals Five-Star Challenge this week Tennessee has a slight edge right now.

“I feel liked I’d have to give (the edge) to Tennessee but Florida is not far behind," said Sneed

Meanwhile, Rivals.com spoke with Sneed at the Rivals Five-Star Challenge and came away thinking the four-star tight end is unlikely to end up in Knoxville

"Carson Sneed has been committed in-state to the Volunteers for nearly a year, but there is a strong expectation that this will not carry over too much longer….we do not expect him to wind up playing in Rocky Top," wrote Rivals.com's Sam Spiegelman.

We'll see what happens in the coming weeks — Sneed doesn't have a date for a final decision — but it feels like this recruiting battle could go either way for Tennessee.
