A 2027 five-star recruit who’s been committed to the Texas Longhorns since late November is planning to officially visit the Tennessee Vols in May.

On3’s Sam Spiegelman reported this week that five-star wide receiver Easton Royal will take an official visit to Tennessee on May 28.

Royal will also be in Knoxville for an unofficial visit in March.

“Tennessee has made not only me, but my family feel like a priority, too,” said Royal to On3 of his interest in the Volunteers. “Like Texas, they have an offense that fits my play style.”

Royal, 5-11, 185 pounds from New Orleans, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 2 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 10 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class. He’s also rated as the top player in the state of Louisiana.

Tennessee is being aggressive in its pursuit of Easton Royal

Royal is solidly committed to Texas, for now, but the Vols have continued to make the talented wide receiver a top priority.

“Tennessee has refused to stop recruiting Royal,” wrote Spiegelman last month.

On3’s Chad Simmons suggested earlier this month that Tennessee may actually be the biggest threat to swipe the five-star wide receiver from Texas.

“The Buckeyes could be one to watch. Florida was one of his early favorites less than a year ago, but Tennessee may be Texas’ top competition,” wrote Simmons. “The offense and Kelsey Pope have the Vols in play.”

Florida, LSU, and Ole Miss are also in the mix to flip Royal from Texas

LSU, specifically, looms a big threat in this battle. It’s always tough to land elite wide receivers from Louisiana over the Tigers.
